The Scene at The Happenstance London

Sitting in the shadows of St Paul’s Cathedral, The Happenstance by Drake and Morgan is ideally located beneath the London Stock Exchange in Paternoster Square. This vibrant spot hums with activity during the week, but on weekends the square transforms into a tranquil hideaway, offering a stunningly secluded setting for relaxed wedding celebrations in Central London.

A towering column walkway leading up to The Happenstance complements the surrounding London architecture. Once inside the venue, venture through to the main restaurant to be welcomed by speckled concrete floors and a curving wooden bar painted in a funky herringbone pattern. With subtle rustic features and soft lighting, The Happenstance is the perfect backdrop for a modern boho wedding.

The lounge next door is ideally suited to your evening wedding party, and the low lighting and a second quirky patterned bar transform the room into your own private nightclub. With an optional separate entrance and a wedding licence, the lounge can also accommodate wedding ceremonies of up to 80 guests. Next door, a private dining room connected to the main restaurant doubles up as a useful bridal room, cloakroom or hangout area for children.

Outside, the open-air terrace dotted with outdoor plants and colourful lounge furniture overlooks Paternoster Square and the magnificent St Paul’s Cathedral. This gorgeous space is ideal for hosting pre-dinner drinks and canapés or alfresco cocktail receptions at The Happenstance.

Venue Testimonials

Great bar with wonderful staff. We had our own room with food and drink set out and attentive staff that came through regularly to tidy up and take drinks orders from those of us that wanted drinks other than the pre-ordered ones. The venue is lovely and in a wonderful spot. The food was really nice and the service was great. Would definitely visit again.

We were in a lovely private room on the side of the restaurant for a wedding reception. Plenty of seating, lovely candles and a bar. It's a shame the weather was so awful that day, otherwise, we could have spilled out onto Paternoster Square and enjoyed the October sunshine. Instead, we enjoyed the lovely room, with its fur throws on some of the seats and its cosy ambience. Great place for a private celebration.

Will and his team hosted our wedding at The Happenstance last year, we had the most wonderful day and cannot thank the team enough for their hospitality and attention to detail. The venue was perfect, the food was delicious and the service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble! Thank you Happenstance for being a huge part of our incredible day!
