Dartmouth House Weddings
Traditional London private estate weddings are a dream come true at Dartmouth House. This magnificent Mayfair wedding venue includes heritage ceremony and reception spaces, a regal sweeping staircase and an exclusive outdoor courtyard fit for alfresco celebrations. It’s no surprise why this venue is considered one of the most romantic settings to say ‘I do’ in London. Enjoy your private wedding day in residential luxury, just a stone’s throw from Berkeley Square.
The Scene at Dartmouth House
Dartmouth House is a masterpiece of 18th century Mayfair townhouse architecture, and it is currently home to the English Speaking Union. Its historical significance whispers through the walls, creating a regal atmosphere to host your nuptial celebrations.
Each of the Grade II listed function spaces has their own unique Aglo-French style, with high ceilings, large windows, and ornate Rococo furnishings. Dartmouth House harks back to its past but is enhanced with subtle 21st Century facilities to conduct flawless wedding ceremonies and receptions.
There is one licensed space on the first floor called the Churchill Room, which makes an elegant backdrop to wedding ceremonies, and the remaining three reception rooms include drawing rooms and an enchanting outdoor courtyard, which are perfect for seated dinners of up to 100 or 150 standing. Dartmouth House is an adaptable and classical London wedding venue to create a timeless occasion.
Wedding Ceremonies at Dartmouth House
At Dartmouth House in Mayfair, the Churchill Room is the primary licensed wedding ceremony setting. Located on the first floor, the sweeping Belgian marble staircase makes an iconic moment as the bride or groom and bridesmaids ascend to make a spectacular ceremony entrance.
The Churchill Room has a distinctively warm and atmospheric feel, with its walnut panelling surrounding all four sides of the room. Often couples add light ivory florals or bright balloons to lift the space and create an effective contrast. Alternatively, couples can have an outdoor wedding blessing in the Dartmouth House courtyard that is not legally binding.
Mayfair Registry Office will provide a celebrant to conduct your civil ceremony in the Churchill Room. They’ll stand in front of the historic fireplace and antique mirror, where beautiful photos have been captured as the couple exchange wedding rings. Alternatively, if you have your heart set on marrying in a Mayfair church, the experienced wedding coordinator can direct you to the right port of call.
Wedding Receptions at Dartmouth House
There is a range of beautiful wedding reception rooms available at Dartmouth House that are known to be some of the most charming in Mayfair. They are perfect for small to midsize wedding parties, and every guest will be attended to with consistent five-star service.
The Long and Small Drawing Rooms on the first floor radiate with the soft pastel tone of duck egg blue, which creates a gorgeous environment for elegant dining arrangements. You are able to open the French doors to create an interrupted reception space, and the floor-to-ceiling windows illuminate the rooms in an abundance of natural light.
Outside, the Courtyard is an excellent choice for relaxed cocktail and champagne receptions, not to mention a desirable scene for romantic wedding photography. Photographers love to work in this bright and airy terrace that’s overflowing with creative potential. They’ll subtly weave between you guests and take candid shots as they settle in and toast to the newlyweds.
